Description:

The AeroPress is an entirely new way to make coffee, American style or Espresso style for use in lattes, cappucinos and other espresso based drinks. AeroPress brews simply delicious coffee, 1-4 cups per pressing. Ideal water temperature and faster brewing yields rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness. Other brewing processes use near boiling water and long exposure to coffee grounds. Quickly brew a variety of coffee drinks including an Americano or an espresso-style shot for use in lattes or cappuccinos. Its total-immersion system permits extraction at a moderate temperature and a short brew time. Water and grounds are mixed together for 10 seconds, then gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a micro-filter in just 20 seconds, which avoids the bitterness of long processes such as drip brewing. The air pressure also gently squeezes the last goodness from the grounds, further enriching the flavor. The total brewing time of only 30 seconds results in an exceptionally smooth brew. The AeroPress is BPA free.

Features:

Unique coffee/espresso maker uses total immersion and gentle pressure to produce coffee with extraordinarily rich flavor

Because of the lower temperature and short brew time, the acid level of the brew is much lower than conventional brewers

1bitter coffee - trouble tomake itSep 08, 2010
I purchased this coffee pot recently and do NOT like it at all. I think it is too much trouble to make coffee with this system and that the coffee that results is bitter. I am sorry I purchased it.

This press makes perfect espresso. No crema but it tastes great. It's well designed and very compact. I plan on taking it backpacking. If you drink espresso every day like me this will save you LOTS of money. It's well worth the 25 bucks. Buy it!

4I like this thingSep 03, 2010
I'm a coffee snob, but this aeropress works great. I've used a French press for years, always forgoing that last 1/2 ounce or so. But the aeropress makes that unnecessary. It really is as easy as the makers make it sound. I haven't tried espresso (not my thing anyway). The only complaint I have is the size. Just 2 ounces larger and it would be the right size for the coffee mug I use the most. Instead, I fill it to the #4, stir, wait until the water goes down to #3, then add more hot water. That sounds easy enough, but it isn't always clear (especially if you're using coffee to wake yourself up) where the water level actually is (versus the kind of coffee froth that forms when you pour the water in--if you've used this, you know what I mean). I've used this for about a month now, and I still don't have that down to a science. It's not a reason not to buy this--I'll continue to use it--but it might take a few weeks of trial an error unless you drink from a rather small cup.

5Tried it with good coffee beans... Oh my goodness.Sep 03, 2010
When I first got this, I just tried it with whatever ground coffee I had. That coffee tasted bleh in the machine and it tasted bleh here too.

I'm very picky when it comes to coffee. I like americano or certain brewed coffee but I hate it when I can taste the acidity or bitterness of the coffee... which is why I wanted this machine.

SO today, I actually got some good roasted coffee beans, ground it myself to a nice consistency, followed every direction (not boiling water etc) and made a cup of americano.

It tasted better than most coffee shop americanos... I am truly amazed. I usually put in a little bit of milk for a nice smooth flavor, but I couldn't because I thought it would be a crime to ruin the delicate flavor of this lovely coffee! I am so excited about this machine!

Mind you, i tried this same coffee bean with the drip machine as well and its not comparable. with this machine, I couldn't taste any bitterness or unpleasant flavors. It was nice, robust, and clean. Aeropress all the way.

5Best single cup coffee makerAug 31, 2010
I've had my Aeropress for about a year it makes a fabulous cup of coffee.

There's a huge thread at coffeegeeks about the gadget and I took some advice from there as far as brewing. I use a heaping scoop, heat the water to ~175F, pour to the middle of the (4) mark, stir for about 10 seconds - I just use a teaspoon, then press. This recipe will make 8 oz of coffee. At first I used a Kyocera hand grinder (settings available in coffeegeeks thread) but that's a little too much trouble for me so I just go to the local food co-op and grind a weeks worth. I use the next setting up from expresso (coarser), it's not quite as fine as the Kyocera and not quite as tasty but extrememly good. As other people have commented buy extra filters when you buy the aeropress to save on shipping.
