 Doesn't seem to do anythingAug 03, 2010
After reading the rave reviews of this product from others, and then buying the product, I'm now beginning to wonder if either a) a lot of those reviewers were paid by the manufacturer or b) this Allerpet stuff works as one giant placebo effect.
I tried it on my new cat who sheds A LOT. Also did combing twice a day with one of those fur-buster combs. Tried the Allerpet about every 4 days, as recommended. Did not do a darn thing. Why? Because my cat would immediately wash her entire body after I put the stuff on!! Where do allergens come from? The saliva and urine. So, if you're cat is fastidiously tidy in self-cleaning as most cats are, you can expect the Allerpet stuff to stay on your cats fur for about 5 minutes, only then to be completely obliterated by new allergens being deposited on the fur.
However it's supposed to work, it doesn't seem to work in 5 minutes b/c I noticed no differences in my allergic reaction before and after application.

They hate it...they don't want it on, they don't like the way it tastes and I feel horrible when i douse them with it....
clean your house really well, sweep mop and dust, or get rid of your cats if you are allergic, this is cruel to put on them :(

 Perfect for Use with FurminatorJun 28, 2010
I'm allergic to cats, but I only discovered that when I found two kittens on the side of a road and adopted them. I've developed a weekly routine with a Furminator followed by this Allerpet solution that alleviates most of my allergic reaction. (Now that it's summer, I have to furminate them twice a week to survive.)
I first use the FURminator deShedding Tool for Cats, 1.75-Inch Edge on both of my cats, which removes a crazy quantity of hair and practically prevents them from shedding. I then douse a towel in Allerpet solution and use it on them, which washes out the allergens from the hair they have left.
This routine seems to almost eliminate my allergic reactions, although I do still occasionally get the sniffles or irritated eyes. I'd highly recommend this product.

I think this product helps enough to be worth the money and trouble of roping the cat to apply it. It has a nice pleasant smell, too.

I've used the product on my cat twice but I have no idea if it's working seeing that my husband is still suffering from allergies.
