4great trimmerJul 20, 2010
Started up right out of the box. Works as described. Much quicker than a manual pole saw.

3Not what I expected from PoulanJun 24, 2010
The packaging was less than suitable to withstand UPS; but at least it arrived in one piece. The assembled 3-piece unit is way too heavy in my book. Poulan could lighten things up a bit! The pole pieces fit together too loosely for me - but they are evidently secure enough that they work. The trimmer part works fine (it's angle a little akward compared to my other gas weed-whacker) but the chainsaw unit leaks bar & chain oil all over the place when not in use! I emailed Poulan about the problem a month ago but they have not yet had the courtesy to respond to me. I will not buy another Poulan product!

5outstanding valueMay 16, 2010
I was a bit dubious about purchasing due to some of the negative reviews but bought it because of the big difference in price. Now that I have used it several times I can say it was exactly what I needed and at an excellent price. I bought it for my personal use which while not professional is extensive at times.

Initially the saw seemed a bit underpowered but now that it is broken-in and I am used to using it, I find it totally adequate. Unlike a lot of other gas powered equipment, you must run it at full throttle to get the maximum power. You also need to bring the chain up to speed before you start a cut. This done, there is no problem cutting oak the size of the blade.

It is also very easy to start which is a big plus. After warming up usually one pull is sufficient. Many times I will use it instead of my std chainsaw to cut logs and do limbing on the ground because it is easier/quicker/lighter. True that it doesn't cut as quickly as my 24in saw but it is a good alternative. It has also become my preferred weed whacker (string trimmer) because of the easy starts.

4It does what it's supposed to doMar 19, 2010
Getting the product a day earlier than expected was a bonus!
I bought the product primarily as a pole say, but the weed eater attachment was welcome. I found that the connection method which others had complained about to be very effective for both attachments as long as it is properly tightened. The chain saw head is a little on the lightweight side, but this is from someone who owns and uses pro-level chainsaws. I found that you have to keep the motor revved up to maintain cutting power or the chain will hang-up on the branch you are cutting. For pruning of high branches, it beats the heck out of climbing a ladder with a regular chainsaw. I'm very happy with the purchase!

4Good toolFeb 03, 2010
The first time I started the engine it was a bit balky, all other starts since have been very easy whether hot or cold.It runs well in any position.Burns very little fuel and the chain oiler works well. The clamp knob that secures the shaft extension for the pole trimmer works loose quite often and is the only defect that is obvious.A bit of thread locker fixes that.
I am pleased overall with the tool and would buy another.Shipping was very prompt. The price was very reasonable.
