Just a basic clock radioJul 28, 2010 Just bought mine from Walmart for $9.96 plus tax. Not sure why Amazon is charging nearly $40 right now.
It set itself with eastern time and then I apparently "fixed" it or it fixed itself so now its central.
I bought it to replace a sony "dream machine" thats probably 20 years old. The reason I bought this was the battery back up on the old unit did not work and my power goes out a lot.
I guess I was thinking the battery backup meant it would still work even with the power out but it does not. It just doesnt "lose" the time like my old one.
Which was my primary issue. Also, I set a drink on the old one and it occasionally went nuts and didnt allow me to set it. This one is MUCH easier to set. The alarm I mean. Quicker that is.
The light is not too bright and not too dim. Just right for me. And, if I turn it away from me, I can even see it.
I have just now got it and set it so maybe I will chime in after some actual usage and see what I think. I rarely get up to an alarm but I do need one when I have to.
I considered buying an offbrand off ebay that go for around $6-7 including shipping but went ahead and bought it local so if I have an issue I can take it back.
Plus, I figure the sony name is worth a few bucks more than Naxa. Even though the same company probably makes them !
Is there a way to set it 10 minutes fast ? I like to give myself a 10 minute cushion.
Weak SauceJul 15, 2010 This clock radio is weak sauce. I love Sony but not this product. It's cheap and looks good but the alarm itself sounds pathetic. Maybe that's why the box says Dream Machine. It probably doesn't wake you up. I didn't use but since the alarm is not loud I know it won't work for me. Returning it to Target asap.
Basic that is what I needJul 02, 2010 This is a basic radio alarm clock. Easy to use, good sound quality. The green light is a bit too strong at night that I have to move it away. Overall, it is good enough for me in my bedroom.
Good simple Radio Alarm ClockJun 22, 2010 Work like it suppose to, simple clock radio. The functions are easily define by all the button and knob. Would been better if it had a digital tuner.
Very cool, cheap, robust... a great buy!Jun 21, 2010 The clock is quite smart looking, the LED numbers are easy to view, especially at night, they glow green .
The radio has very good sound quality and it can be turned up to LOUD so that it blares in the morning to wake me up. It is easy to use, but in my opinion, the Buzzer feature is not very useful (if you are a heavy sleeper), best to use the Radio as the alarm.
I am very happy with the clock, it's become an integral part of my life, I really like waking up to the music and it was very cheap and of v good quality...has even survived a couple of bumps and bruises.
And I don't know if this is a feature of just my clock specifically or all those that are available, but I have to keep it plugged in all the time. It doesn't seem to have a battery ( or didn't come with one and I didn't put one in).
All in all, go for it!
